Wireless Charger and Finger Grip on Back on Phone: Which are compatible?

It's not that they're not 'compatible', it's that they're creating interference between the coil receiver in the phone and the transmitted signal from the charging pad. So, right off the bat, you already have a minimum distance that has to be between those two elements. Add anything in between (i.e. too thick material) and the signal will be dampened by the distance alone, even if the material isn't too bad at propagating it (like metal plates, which already dampen the signal by material properties alone).

On top of things (no pun intended), the coils in phone and transmitter must align within a tolerance range, so if the holder isn't thick enough to create a distance between the phone and charger, it might be in a location where the material will dampen the signal directly over the coil.

While this is not just a problem with Samsung phones or chargers, those distance/alignment tolerances do vary from brand to brand.
